Overdraft Protection
Peoples Bank of the South Overdraft Protection works in a systematic and simple way to provide the Peoples Bank of the South customer convenience, value and overdraft protection. Up to a $900.00 limit per checking account, Peoples Bank of the South may cover your check in the event of an overdraft rather than return the check as unpaid to the retailer or other payee; therefore, there will be no additional "return check fees" from the retailer or other payee, only the normal service charge per overdraft item. Peoples Bank of the South customer will be required to make deposits at least once every 30 days to bring their account back to a positive balance.
Temporary Liquidity Guarantee Program
Our institution has chosen NOT to participate in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Our customers with non-interest bearing transaction accounts will continue to be insured through December 31,2013 for up to $250,000 under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules. Not one penny of insured deposits has ever been lost by a customer of a federally insured bank. Only federally insured institutions can make this statement, "backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government."
